TEVİTÖL’s young talents enchanted with “We Are Music”, 03.05.2013
The “We Are Music” concert, featuring students of the Güher & Süher Pekinel Music Department of the Turkish Education Foundation İnanç Türkeş Private High School (TEVİTÖL), which educates the leaders of the future, was held at Kadir Has University.
TEV Board Member Kaya Şener, TEV General Manager Yıldız Günay, TEVİTÖL Principal Azmi Özkardeş, as well as members of the TEV family and TEVİTÖL students attended the concert.
The “We Are Music” concert, performed by the students of TEVİTÖL’s Music Department—which was founded in 2006 by Güher Pekinel and Süher Pekinel—and organized under the direction of TEVİTÖL Music Department Manager Soley Akalın and TEVİTÖL Implementation Coordinator Ayşegül Kirmanoğlu, gave music lovers in Istanbul an unforgettable evening.
At the TEVİTÖL Music Department, which was established with the aim of enabling gifted young people of Turkey studying at TEVİTÖL to master their instruments and explore the depths of music, it is aimed to ensure that young individuals, by recognizing their own creative potential and sharing in collective music-making, grow into individuals who are more at peace with themselves and their social environment, capable of maintaining softer and more humane relationships, and compatible with the rapidly globalizing world.
Among the founding objectives of the TEVİTÖL Music Department, established in 2006 by Güher and Süher Pekinel, are helping students relax spiritually through making music amid the exam competition imposed by the education system, enabling them to experience their creativity, develop their inner discipline, and enrich both their musical and general cultural knowledge.
The “We Are Music” concert began with Cem Gültekin performing F. Chopin’s “Polonaise Op. 53 / Allegro” on the piano. The concert continued with Sercan Durmuş on violin and Metin Ülkü on piano interpreting A. Dvořák’s “Humoresque Poco Lento e Grazioso.” Ece Durmuş performed D. Cimarosa’s “Concerto/Larghetto” on the oboe, accompanied by her piano teacher Metin Ülkü. The concert proceeded with Dora Yaşar performing S. Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude Op. 23 No: 5 Alla Marcia – Moderato – Alla Marcia” on the piano. The concert gained momentum with H. Tomasi’s “Complainte de Jeune Indien,” performed by G. Ege Eskibozkut on clarinet and Yağmur Dai on piano, and continued with Şafak Tüfekçi and Ferhat Erduran performing J. Brahms’s “Hungarian Dance No. 1 Allegro Molto.” F. Chopin’s “Waltz Op. 69 No: 2 Moderato” was performed on the piano by Mert Taşkıran.
At the concert, Oğulcan Varlı and Metin Ülkü interpreted J. W. Ganglberger’s “Mein Tedybär – Konzertpolka Allegro,” while N. Baklanova’s “Mazurka-Horvat Moderato” was performed by Volkan Balcı on violin and Metin Ülkü on piano. Following Begüm Önlen’s performance of F. Chopin’s “Waltz Op. Posth. No: 14 Vivace” and Eylül Zorlu and Yağmur Dai’s interpretation of M. Nicholas’s “Rhapsody Degen Etude No: 12 Andante,” Ayşegül Yamak and Yağmur Dai took the stage.
After the chamber music performances interpreted by the students of the TEVİTÖL Güher & Süher Pekinel Music Department, the concert concluded with choral works performed by a choir consisting of Alpinnaz Soykan, Sinem Nur Uygun, Eylül Zorlu, Bilge Nur Yılmaz, Ege Gezer, Ataberk Selekoğlu, Taaralp Akar, and Tugay Yılmaz, under the direction of Choir Conductor Soley Akalın, accompanied on the piano by Yağmur Dai.
