The Vibrant Recordings

Reinmar Wagner Do the Piano Duos have to be sisters like Pekinels or Labèques? Or at least couples like Soós-Haag or Tal-Groethuysen? Duos like Martha Argerich with Nelson Freire prove that it also functions without marriage or blood relation, but of course some more Understanding and Trust is not harmful for a Duo. Güher and Süher Pekinel are even identical twins and in fact, critics of their performances points out, that their Interpretation is homogenous with blind communication between each other. They also see it that way, speak from „ telepathical Communication“ place their pianos back to each other, which has of course acoustical benefits, but doesn’t encourage the „normal born“pianists in particular. The Piano Duo are on stages since 6 years old and they started play as Duo first in United States, short before Karajan’s Invitation to Salzburg Festival. This Invitation became the breakthrough of their carrier and lead them to everywhere classical music exist. Now they made a special collection of their remarkable recordings in a beautifully formed 7 CDs, 4 DVDs and 2 Blu-Ray-Discs, which are gathered with new sound mastering exclusive for «Treasures» Box including a 108 Page Book. It is not only a mechanical compilation of their released recordings – for that the box would be heavier and bigger- It is a selection of special milestones of the Duo. For example, their Interpretation of Symphonic Dances from „West Side Story “, which was re-composed for Pekinels by Bernstein is legendary. Here in the same program, they are also to be seen with a world premiere ( first release in “Treasures”) in Borusan Festival in Istanbul , 2015 with two percussionists of Berlin Philharmonic performing the madly difficult Paganini Variations of Lutoslawski and the Bartok Sonata for two Pianos and Percussions. Both hallmarks of Pekinels, likewise their concert performances and recordings with Jacques Loussier Trio with Bach Jazz Arrangements of Loussier for two and three Pianos. To discover is the Bartok-Concert with Zubin Mehta in Florence, Bach with Loussier and Sir Colin Davis and with him also the Mozart K365a Concert for two pianos , all in DVD Live Recordings. The new mastered 7 CDs offer a wide-ranging repertoire of Duo’s recordings. The Recitals enfold also their brandmarks from Strawinskys «Sacre du Printemps» to the Beethoven-Variations from Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Brahms and many more. The Concerts encircle recordings from Bach this time with ZKO under Howard Griffiths, to Mozart and Mendelssohn with Philharmonia Orchestra under Sir Neville Marriner and more to discover.
