Duygu Eliz Erkut – Ballerina

“Being a part of this project gave me the opportunity to continue my classical ballet study at worlds one of the most prestigious school “Accademia alla Scala” and made me a step closer to my goals.”

Born in 1996, Duygu Eliz Erkut began her classical ballet studies at the age of five at the “Art Academy Ballet School” in Istanbul with Oksana Dinçer.

In 2004 after her studies with Oksana Dinçer, the young ballerina was accepted to the class of Ömer Inanç at the “Ankara State Opera and Ballet”, and continued her studies of classical ballet at the “Istanbul University State Conservatory” and the “International Ballet Academy” in Varna, Bulgaria. 2011 she graduated from the “Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory Classical Ballet Division” in Istanbul and two years later, in 2013, was selected for the “Young Musicians on the World Stages” system, created and mentored by Güher & Süher Pekinel.

In 2012 Erkut was the only ballerina to be accepted to study at “Accademia Teatro alla Scala” in Milan out of over 400 applicants and is the first Turkish ballet dancer to study at the Academy. She took an important part in Jacques Offenbach/Léonide Massines’ “Gaité Parisienne” and in August Bournnonvilles’ “Napoli” at Teatro alla Scala in 2014. For the first time in its history, the Academy invited a 7th grade student to the Teatro alla Scala.

In 2015 Erkut was chosen to take part in the masterclass of Patricia Neary and danced at the Gala at “Teatro alla Scala”. In the same year she performed an important part in “P.I. Tchaikovsky/N.Duato-Nutcracker” and in “Les Sylphides” at Teatro alla Scala. In December 2015 she danced as a soloist in Tchaikovski/F. Olivieri’s “Nutcracker” at the Teatro Strehler in Milan/Italy.

Duygu Eliz Erkut pursued her studies in 2015 – 2016 with Paola Vismara at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. Finishing her studies in 2016 at the Accademia, Erkut took part on the tour “Giselle” in China and Japan during September of the same year. After the end of her YMWS scholarship, and her graduation from Academia alla Scala, she accepted the offer to dance professionally for Teatro alla Scala where she continues her ballet career.

Recently Erkut performed during the Teatro alla Scala 2016-17 Season, in productions of:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream – F.Mendelsshon
Swan Lake – A.Ratmansky
Symphony in C – G.Balanchine
Progetto Handel – M.Bigonzetti
