Duru Aydın – Pianist

Born in Istanbul in 2005, Duru AYDIN began her piano lessons with Aytaj Rzaguliyeva at the age of 6. She was admitted to MSGSU (Istanbul State Conservatory) in 2013 where she currently continues studying with Prof. Metin Ülkü.

Between 2014-2018, she won First and Second Prize in piano competitions twice in Italy and once in Belgium and had the chance of performing abroad. Locally, in 2017 she won First Prize in the 12th International Pera Piano Competition and Third Prize in IDSO (Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra) National Young Talents Competition. In 2018, she was awarded Second Prize in the 12th International Chopin Piano Competition held in Narva, Estonia. In Is Sanat’s 2018-2019 Shining Stars Series, she won the Meriç Soylu award, Third Prize.

She played in prestigious concert halls namely, Cemal Reşit Rey, Fulya Sanat Merkezi, İş Sanat Konser Salonu, Grand Pera Emek Sahnesi, Arter Sevgi Gönül Oditoryumu, Tallinna Filharmoonia Konser Salonu, and Cultural Centre Kontserdimaja Geneva Narva. She performed as soloist with such orchestras as the İstanbul State Symphony Orchestra, MSGSÜ İDK Symphony Orchestra, MSGSÜ İDK Genç Orchestra and Trakya Chamber Orchestra. 

She participated actively in masterclasses of prominent masters such as Idil BIRET, Vincenzo BALZANI, Philippe RASKIN, Julia KOCIUBAN, Peep LASSMANN, Johani LAGERSPETZ, Ruta RIKTERE, Viktor PORTNOI, and Bruno RIGUTTO.

On December 3, 2021 Duru AYDIN applied to Oberlin Piano Festival to be held at Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio on July 17-30, 2022 and received an acceptance letter on December 9, 2021.  

In July 2021, she was one of the finalists of the 3rd Muğla İdil Biret Music Festival “Young Pianists” and will play with the orchestra Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise on July 5,2022 at Bodrum Castle, to be conducted by Münif Akalın.

Duru AYDIN is also one of the finalists of the “Tomorrow’s Women Stars” project, organised by IKSV (Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts) and sponsored by TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Turkey). This achievement earned her the right to perform in the concert which will be held at Sureyya Operası on June 23, 2022. Duru AYDIN is a 11th grade student at MSGSU IDK (Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory) and has studied under Prof. Metin ÜLKÜ since the 6th grade including chamber music which she started in 2020.

Duru Aydın is member of the “Young Musicians on World Stages” system, guided by Güher & Süher Pekinel.
