Another Success from the Pekinels.
I am listening to the CD of Güher Pekinel & Süher Pekinel performing the double piano concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The two great pianists are accompanied by the Zurich Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Howard Griffiths.
I have listened to all of the Pekinel ‘s performances; it would not be an exaggeration if
I said I have listened to all the long plays and CDs they have recorded.
I suppose there is no longer much meaning or importance in praising them.
Because in the world’s leading music magazines, the most important critics of classical music have already secured their place in music history with the reviews they have written about them.
Even so, each of their new works is for me a new excitement, a new journey in the world of sound.
I listened to the Bach concertos with this same admiration.

In Gramophone (April 2005, p. 59), the headline of Nalen Anthoni ’s review of their new CD summarized the success of the recording in a single sentence:
“Two heads, four hands, in perfect unity.”
While describing the success of their performance, the critic says, “They do not imitate the harpsichord.”
Thus, he emphasizes that they perform this work using the possibilities of the piano.
In addition, Süher Pekinel provides information about her methods of working separately and together with her twin sister Güher Pekinel , and also shares her thoughts on Bach :
“Because of musical reasons, we play one after the other. In this way, we avoid concentrating by establishing a connection through our eyes.
Then a person’s ears become their eyes.
Bach is our very beloved composer.
We played Bach at our first concert when we were six years old. Because for us, Bach possesses a greatness and richness that transcend time.
for the past, the present, and the future.”
Süher Pekinel also speaks about their future projects.
They will record the sonatas, waltzes, and Hungarian dances of Johannes Brahms.
